What follows was written by Mobile Reverend and included in the wedding of Jazz and Ross… it is their story based on conversations Mobile Reverend had with the couple.
I know that some of you here today were present that fateful night at Max’s when Jazairah and Ross met. Who knew then that the iconic Filipino House of Chicken would also be in the business of match-making? It started out as a night of mutual friends being in a celebratory mood and getting together, but by the time the evening moved to Karaoke it was evidently clear to everyone that there was something very special in the making between Jazz and Ross… everyone, that is, except Jazz and Ross.
During that chance meeting over fried chicken the couple discovered they had a number of things in common -- they were even from the same part of Manila, only walking distance from each other. Conversation came easy to Jazz and Ross; there was no initial awkwardness, so it was not surprising that they quickly moved into casual friendship mode: Ross made the first call. That was followed by a number of outings with friends, followed by the two just going out and doing things together… you see, they hadn’t realized they were actually dating yet.
Fast-forward a little to a particular invitation from Jazz and Ross to accompany her to a friend’s birthday. Never mind that that the couple had already been to a number of each others’ family functions including Ross’ graduation from nursing in 2008. But there was enough awareness for Ross to start to think “Hmmm… What’s going on here.” From then on things did move from friendship to formal dating and eventually to budding romance.
Siblings on both sides approved of the relationship, as did Ross’ parents – they already had grandchildren and would gladly welcome more. However, the young couple found on their trip to Guam that Jazz’s mom’s acceptance would require some persuasion. After all, Zairah was the baby of the family; Jazairah was her baby.
But the hoops Ross was required to jump through proved evidently not so high and by the time they were ready to board the plane back to the states, it was with both Jazz’s parents’ blessings.

You see, Ross finally did figure out what was going on! The only problem was he was so nervous and anxious that he started feeling sick – coming off of a 12-hour work shift might have contributed some… Sensing his distress, but not knowing the cause, Jazz suggested they have her birthday dinner on another night. But, Ross having found his way was determined. He even recovered from his light-headed-ness and regained enough composure to realize that he did not lose the ring, but had only placed it in another coat pocket.
So, out came the question, “Will you marry me?” to which Jazz replied with quintessential love born out of true friendship, “For real?!” Needless to say it was… it IS “for real” and the result is this beautiful couple seated before you today.
As we move to the actual wedding ceremony I’d like to offer this quote from Woody Allen: "I was nauseous and tingly all over. I was either in love or I had smallpox."
This was just another example of a www.GreatOfficiants.com ceremony!
