SPECIAL OFFER: To celebrate the passing of Marriage Equality in his adopted home state of Hawai'i, Mobile Reverend is offering a time-limited discount. Click Special Offer for details.
NOTE: This page was added at a time when all that Mobile Reverend could legally offer a LGBT couple was a Commitment Ceremony which although similar in content to a Wedding Ceremony is not legally binding nor does it provide legal benefits. However, it was an Affirmation of Love and the acknowledgement of the affirming couple's love by family and friends. (It continues to be an option.)
What follows remains as a testimony to the struggle which eventually led to Marriage Equality returning to the state of California. Below is also a section called "Marriage Equality Watch Across the Nation" and it continues to be updated until Marriage is available to ALL consenting adult US citizens.

NEWS FLASH: MARRIAGE EQUALITY NO LONGER JUST
A CALIFORNIA DREAM, BUT A CALIFORNIA REALITY
ON FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2013 THE NINTH DISTRICT COURT OF APPEALS LIFTED ITS STAY OPENING THE DOOR FOR SAME-SEX MARRIAGE TO RESUME IN CALIFORNIA. IN THE PHOTO BELOW, KRIS PERRY AND SANDRA STIER, ONE OF TWO COUPLES WHO CHALLENGED PROP 8 WERE MARRIED IN SAN FRANCISCO. Photo by Jeff Chui.
NEWS UPDATE: Wednesday, June 26, 2013. The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed Proposition 8, thus paving the way for Marriage Equality in California. Governor Jerry Brown issued a statement on the Prop 8 ruling, “In light of the decision, I have directed the California Department of Public Health to advise the state’s counties that they must begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in California as soon as the Ninth Circuit confirms the stay is lifted." California Attorney General Kamala Harris tweeted, "I ask that the Ninth Circuit lift its stay immediately. Gay and lesbian couples in CA have waited long enough."
CALIFORNIA MARRIAGE EQUALITY: As of Friday, June 28, 2013 California resumed being a marriage equality state. The elation that marked the California Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage on May 15, 2008 gave way to dismay just six months later on November 5, 2008 with the passing of Proposition 8. On August 4, 2010, U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn R. Walker, after lengthy testimony, ruled Proposition 8 unconstitutional. On February 7, 2012 a 3-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals agreed. The decision, however, was contested, underwent appeal and was submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court whose 2012-2013 season opened last October 1, 2012. Oral arguments in the case were heard on March 26 and the Supreme Court finally handed down a ruling early this morning, June 26, 2013 -- the last day of the SCOTUS' term.
MARRIAGE EQUALITY NATIONALLY: As of Monday, October 6, 2014 twenty-four states -- California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawai'i, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin plus the District of Colombia -- offer GLBT persons the right to marry. Bans on same-sex marriages have been judged unconstitutional in Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, and Texas, however, stays have been issued pending appeals. Six Native American Tribes have legalized same-sex marriages: the Coquille Tribe (Oregon), the Suquamish tribe (Washington) and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (Michigan), Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians (Michigan), Santa Ysabel Tribe (California), and most recently the Colville Tribe (Washington). Additionally, judges have also ordered Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.
Mobile Reverend looks forward to and welcomes the day when marriage equality is recognized in the remaining states. He believes in the right of consenting adults to enter into and celebrate a committed union with each other regardless of their orientation or gender -- gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered. In keeping with that belief, Mobile Reverend offers a choice of a Marriage or Commitment Ceremony.
