5-STAR REVIEW:

"I contacted Great Officiants on a recommendation from The Sky Room.  I went on the website and submitted my inquiry on 07/16/2015 and quickly received a phone call from Jack Day who confirmed my information.  Within the next 2 hours, I was contacted with a referral to Mauricio Lubong. Mauricio contacted me not long after that and after my conversation with him, I knew I wanted to have him officiate my wedding ceremony.  Of course, I had to run it by my husband and so we planned to meet Mauricio in person for a quick interview.  After our initial meeting with him, we were convinced that Mauricio would be THE officiant for us.  I loved that he took the initiative to get to know us by asking us to answer three questions about our relationship.  He used our answers as a background during our ceremony and it was perfect.  We gave Mauricio an outline of how we wanted the ceremony to be conducted and he stuck by our request.  We wanted a quick and painless ceremony with a unity candle and a small memorial to my father who had passed a couple years back and to my husband's father who was not able to attend the event due to medical reasons.  Mauricio took the time out to make sure that everything would run smoothly by instructing my wedding party on the schedule.  Everything during the ceremony was perfect and it could not have happened without Mauricio's attention to detail and his take charge attitude during the event.  You can tell he really cares about the bride and groom and I am so thankful to have had Mauricio officiate our wedding for us."

Congratulations to the following same-sex couples for whom it was my distinct honor and personal pleasure to officiate. They came to Southern California from out-of-state to marry and happily their marriages are now legally recognized in their home states... in ALL 50 states. Wishing only the very best that married life has to offer to Tammy and Kimberly, Charles and Jorge, Charlie and Philippe, Allison and Courtney, Amanda and Ali, Michael and Robert, Larry and Ignacio, Ian and Jorge, Robert and Gerald, Michael and Steve, Douglas and Ryan, and Michael and Esperanza (and the many more out-of-state LGBT couples for whom I officiated at the LA County Clerk Office as a volunteer Deputy Commissioner).

"No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that ...they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right." -- Justice Anthony Kennedy, 26 June 2015

Thanks very much to Kelley and Chris who posted the following lovely 5 Star Review on WeddingWire.com.:

"We decided to go with Great Officiants for our wedding day because of some great recommendations. We are not religious so we decided to pick a non-denominational officiant. We went with A. MAURICIO LUBONG, and boy were we happy with that choice! Mauricio speaks eloquently and clearly, he is also very warm and light hearted so the ceremony was never intense or emotional. He prepared a Celtic "tying of the knot" ceremony, and it went off without a hitch! He also recited an e.e. cummings poem we selected, and he recited it perfectly (and beleive me, it can be difficult to recite an e.e. cummings poem!). Many of my friends and family members who flew in from different countries to come to our wedding were very impressed with our officiant. He was also so fun to meet with before the big day and we exchanged many friendly and conversational emails beforehand. I would recommend Mauricio to anyone getting married, no matter their religious/spiritual beleifs. He is very accomodating and open minded..."

"We cannot say thank you enough…"

 A. Mauricio recently received the following nice note via email regarding a wedding he performed in late September. It was sent by Crystal whose marriage to Paul took place at the Wedgewood at the Champions Club at the Retreat in Corona. The venue offers a vista, a panoramic view, of the valley below and hills off in the distance.

"Hi Rev. Mauricio. How are you? Hope all is well. Paul and I wanted to say thank you for such an amazing job performing our ceremony... We cannot say thank you enough… It was truly an honor to have you celebrate with us afterwards... My mom says hello and is still talking about how beautiful you made our ceremony... You surely exceeded our expectations. Hugs, Crystal & Paul"

A. Mauricio customized the loving couple's wedding, which included traditional Filipino Elements, with a verbal tapestry of how Crystal and Paul met, with threads drawn from "homework" which he assigned to them. The assignment came with instructions for them not to share their work or to collaborate with each other. In other words, there was to be "no cheating!" Crystal and Paul only heard what the other contributed when the words were unveiled by A. Mauricio near the start of their ceremony. This set the tone of their wedding making it distinctly personal, singularly unique. At times laugh out loud funny, at other times sweetly romantic, but always engaging.

Personal highlights for A. Mauricio took place during the reception (the couple's family insisted he stay). What at first seemed to be an exceptional recording covering John Legend's "All of Me" while the newlyweds enjoyed their first dance was actually a live performance with Crystal's mom, Maureen, singing! Later, her daughter proved that the apple really does not fall far from the tree, when Crystal accompanied herself on guitar and serenaded her husband, John, with his favorite Filipino song in Tagalog. This was all the more impressive as her family roots are in The Netherlands!

Thank you, Crystal and Paul and Congratulations! May you live "happily ever after".

"Hau`oli la Ho'omana'o..."

"Hau`oli la Ho'omana'o (Happy Anniversary)" to Gabrielle and Jesse who sent this wonderful note along with two photos taken during their Hawaiian-Style ceremony: "Hi Mauricio... We have had a wonderful first year of marriage and think about our wedding all the time.    It was perfect and we just wish that we could do it all over again. You officiated the most beautiful ceremony for us and we couldn't have wished for a more perfect day... Thank you again for bringing all of our hopes for the ceremony to fruition."

One of the Hawaiian ritual observances featured in Gabrielle's and Jesse's wedding involved Mobile Reverend - A. Mauricio pouring Pacific Ocean water into a Koa Wood bowl, He then dipped the leaf of a Ti Plant into the water and used it to sprinkle the water on the rings as a form of blessing. This was introduced with a tradition Hawaiian chant using a melody he composed especially for the occasion.

I used Great Officiants (from whom Mobile Reverend receives most of his referrals) to find the perfect officiane to marry me and my husband. We ended up finding Muricio who was great! He contacted us directly and set up a coffee date to go over what we were looking for in an officiant.
We went over the importance of keeping to some Filipino traditions and the importance of translating some parts of the ceremony into Spanish so my parents would understand. Mauricio went above and beyond to be accommodating to us.
On the rehearsal date he was super friendly to our guests, clear when giving instructions on how the ceremony will proceed. He was interacting with our families so well that we invited him to stay for the dinner.
On our wedding day Mauricio was on time, professional and went through the ceremony seamlessly. He took the time to talk about our relationship and was able to translate parts of the ceremony into Spanish which I appreciated.

The experience with this company was top notch. As soon as I submitted an inquiry, I received a call the next day by great officiants who provided me with contact information to officiant who met the criteria we were looking for and seemed like a good match. Well sure enough, Rev. Mauricio was a pleasure. Kind, professional and so involved. Truly made the experience that much more special. He provided a personal ceremony for my husband & I. He incorporated my Mexican and his Filipino cultures. I received so many compliments from our guests for knowing so much of our backstory and making our friends & family laugh.

"The Rest Is History..."

Who knew that “Rain”, the night club at the Palm Hotel in Las Vegas in addition to serving up good times on the dance floor would also be in  the business of making honest to goodness love connec-tions.  Well, it just so happened that on one particular night in 2002, possibly  2003 the stars, the moon, the sun and the planets aligned just so and both Anna  and Adam found themselves at just that venue – and for them it was the right  place, and it was the right time.

It did not take ADAM long to notice ANNA across the room and he  remembers commenting to his friends, "look at that hot girl in the ruffle  skirt".  For her part it was ADAM’s  presence on the dance floor that drew ANNA’s attention. She actually even circled in a little closer.  His break out moves must have been something because they elicited a “Go, white boy… Go, white boy!”  Evidently, ADAM took that as an invitation to dance.  And, so they did just that… much like people in any club will do:  Dance a little… chat a little… and mingle…

Later on that evening as ANNA was walking around, checking out the club, she noticed that ADAM was not hiding the fact that he was checking her out.  He motioned to her to come over, and when she got to him he asked for her phone number.  At this point, the love connection was sealed… the rest, as the saying goes and as ANNA said herself, is history.

Charlotte was enlisted in the U.S. Military, stationed in the United Kingdom, when she met Allan a member of the British Armed Forces.  It was a perfect summer day early in June when they joined ranks not on the shores of "the Pond",  but rather at the edge of the waters of the Pacific.  These soldiers were drawn  and united by a power stronger than the rule of any government... Love.

June 26 2013 - A Monumental Day

One  year ago on this date, June 26th, the Defense of Marriage Act, the law barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages legalized by the states, was ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.  The same court also restored the effect of a federal district court ruling that overturned Proposition 8 as unconstitutional thus paving the way for Marriage Equality to return to California.

During the following four weeks after that monumental Day Mobile Reverend A.Mauricio was/is proud to have personally married more than 60 same sex couples as a volunteer Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages at the same Registrar Recorder County Clerk Office where the Prop. 8 plaintiffs Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo were issued their Marriage License.  He is just as equally proud of his support of Marriage Equality in his personal business as Mobile Reverend.

The above photo is of two pages from A.Mauricio Lubong, Mobile Reverend's "scrapbook" of marriages for which he has officiated -- They are a compilation of photos

celebrating (and taken during) the first few days of the return of Marriage Equality to California.
